FIRST LOOK: Cleveland Golf & ASICS New Golf Shoe Partnership
Srixon/Cleveland and XXIO have partnered with the sports shoe brand ASICS to bring two new shoe models to the US Market.
The two styles of shoes pulled their style and design from the successful running shoes ASICS has been delivering for years. The Gel Course shoe offers a spikeless version with traditional laces.
This is suited for the ever more popular lifestyle design golf companies are starting to go for. Anytime you can go from the course to your kids’ soccer game without requiring a full change of cloths is fine by me. The GEL-COURSE Duo BOA has a lacing system. This is a knob that you turn that tightens your shoe perfectly and when your ready to take them off, you just release the system. Boom, shoes comes off. I’ve used this type of system before in the past and I’m a big fan of it.
Both shoes feature the same key technologies:
Lightweight Frame Work and Flexibility: Air mesh provides flexibility during the swing and while walking the golf course. FlyteFoam® technology by ASICS provides lightweight shock absorption and plenty of durability for golf.
Supportive Fit: An air mesh at vamp and the integrated quarter panel provide a supportive fit, while internal molded heel counter secures optimal foot support. Additional ankle padding helps create a custom fit that adapts to every move.
Golf Specific Tooling: The FG traction sole pattern places spikes exactly where they need to be for stability and traction while walking the course. Rearfoot GEL® brand technology by ASICS cushioning reduces impact and increases shock absorption, while Toe and Lateral rubber wraps help maintain balance throughout the golf swing.
The GEL-COURSE Duo Boa model MSRP for $179.99 and are offered in Men’s Sizes 6-12, and 13. The three different color combinations are Black/Gunmetal, White/Peacoat, and Peacoat/Pure Silver.

The GEL-COURSE Glide shoes MSRP for $129.99 and are offered in Men’s (6-12, 13) and Women’s (6-10) sizes. The Men’s GEL-COURSE Glide shoes come in four different color combinations: Black/Silver, White/Polar Shade, Polar Shade/Black, and ASICS Blue/White. The Women’s Gel Course Glide shoes come in two different color options: Metropolis/White and Orchid/White.
Both models look extremely comfortable. For me, the Gel-Course Duo looks more modern and stylish. That’s a shoe I can see holding up to 36 holes of golf without any discomfort. The first tour win featuring one of these models will surly be followed by an uptick in sales. These two shoe models could lead to more options down the road from this newly formed partnership. For now, the brands are stepping stride for stride into 2020 with some well-deserved optimism.
