FIRST LOOK: TaylorMade Announces Brand New Iron Sets
TaylorMade has done it again.
Earlier today, TaylorMade announced the launch of their upcoming brand-new sets of irons. Some features may look familiar, some are brand new, but overall these things are incredible. Let’s start with one that has some similarities to the very popular P790 series.
Brand New P770
These P770’s look unbelievable. TaylorMade has manufactured these to be the sibling to the P790’s, but in a smaller package. The 770’s feature a player’s shape, while also providing a good amount of forgiveness. The lofts aren’t as strong as the 790’s, making the 770’s less of a distance club and more like a player’s club. They feature the same SpeedFoam technology that the 790’s offer, as they believe this increases forgiveness. From 7 iron up, they feature the Thru-Slot Speed Pocket, which is designed to “maximize ball speeds and provide forgiveness on low face shots.”

P7MC
This set of irons perfectly pays homage to the classic TaylorMade iron design of past years. They have taken forging to the next level, as the P7MC’s are “forged using a 2,000-ton press ensuring an optimal, tighter grain structure designed to provide the most solid, consistent feel possible.” These are less forgiving compared to the new 770’s, making them a club designed for the better golfer.

P7MB
I saved the best for last. These clubs may be the best looking set of irons I’ve seen in the last 5-10 years. The P7MB’s feature “contemporary aesthetics with a thin topline and slim sole,” creating a “minimalist profile that appeals to the ultimate purist.” All those fancy words mean one thing, you better be a ball-strikers ball-striker to play these things. These are their new blades, and I want to order them right now. The pureness and controllability that blades offer is unmatched, and the P7MB’s are no exception. These are the irons that Rory McIlory put in the bag a few weeks ago.

Rick Shiels has already gotten his hands on these sets. Check out his brand new video that goes more in depth into the new 770’s
