GEAR: Better Your Putting With The Back2Basics Putting Mirror
When it comes to getting better at golf and shooting lower scores, there are two very important things that you need to do. The first being keeping your ball in play. The second thing, and in my opinion the more important, is to make more putts. There have been so many times that I hit a bad tee shot or missed the green in regulation and ended up saving par because I was able to make a putt when I needed to. Proper alignment, a clean stroke, and practice all play a part in lowering your scores on the putting green. The Back2Basics Pro Path Putting mirror is one tool that can be used to help lower your scores.

What stands out right away about this putting mirror is the packaging. Plain and simple, it’s sexy. The thick, black cardboard with the glossy logo really excites you to open it up. Inside the box, you find a sturdy, well manufactured mirror, 4 putting gates and instructions on how to most effectively practice with the mirror. A microfiber pouch is also included if you would like to move everything into that for easy storage inside your golf bag. The putting gates range from 50 MM up to 75 MM. So as your performance increases, so does the challenge.

Using the mirror is simple and intuitive. Set the mirror down on your putting surface, aimed down the intended line. If you are practicing on a grass green, you can place 4 tee’s at each corner to keep the Back2Basics putting mirror in place. Next, you will set your ball inside the grooved-out ball rest area. After that, align your shoulders with the target. Use the built-in alignment line for this step, which is not only clear to see, but labeled directly on the mirror. The last step in your pre-putting routine is to align your putter face and eyes. There is a thick, green line on the surface of the mirror. This is important because no matter how smooth your stroke is, if the face isn’t aligned, you will not make putts. Make sure your eyes are over the center line and you are all set.

Improve the fundamentals of your putting mechanics, and shave strokes off your scorecard with the Pro Path Putting Mirror! https://back2basics.golf/collections/putting-mirrors/products/pro-path-putting-mirror Here is a simple introduction to getting started with the Pro Path Putting Alignment Mirror, and showing you the first few steps to get you started on your golf training journey!
When you’re ready to take a putt, you will see a follow through line on the putting mirror. Bring your putter back along this line to the desired length for the putt you are attempting. You will notice that it curves back to the inside. This is because the putting stroke, much like a swing, is not a straight line. Your posture and alignment at this point are all set. Follow through with your putt along the putting line and if your pace is right, you will be sure to make more putts.

After practicing with the Back2Basics Putting mirror at home, I took it out to the golf course. I warmed up on the putting green prior to my round and gave the gates a try. Having a small target to focus on helped a ton. My focus was on a small area and the challenge made the practice fun. After spending around 20 minutes practicing, I headed out to the course to see how my putting improved. My proximity to the hole was nowhere close, so my lag putting ability was really tested. Keeping in mind the posture and setup I had been practicing, I was able to lag multiple putts inside 3 feet. I averaged two putts per hole, ending with 18 putts for the 9 holes I played. After using this device, I can see a clear improvement in my putting performance. Proper posture and technique came naturally on the course as well as an increased level of confidence.
