Lucas Glover is putting together a run for the ages in the FedEx Cup playoffs.

The 43-year-old veteran needed to win last week’s Wyndham Championship just to get into the FedEx Cup playoffs, and he did just that. Entering the FedEx St. Jude Championship in 49th place in the standings, he’d need a solid finish to stay in the top 50.

Being in the top 50 means not only advancing to next week’s BMW Championship, but that group is also automatically eligible for all of next year’s featured events (called designated events in 2023) on the PGA Tour, which will carry purses of at least $20 million.

But now, Glover has his sights set higher—on the FedEx Cup and the $18 million prize for the winner of the Tour Championship.

Glover is now in third in the standings after winning the St. Jude in a playoff over Patrick Cantlay.

The other big winners this weekend were Hideki Matsuyama and Cam Davis, as the two played well enough to move into the top 50 and become eligible for all the big-money events next year. For Matsuyama, he has a chance to reach his 10th straight Tour Championship with a strong run next week.

The two players who fell out of the top 50 were Mackenzie Hughes and Nick Hardy. Each had a win this season, but it wasn’t enough to advance.

The final three at the cut line to qualify for the BMW are Tom Hoge, Harris English, and Patrick Rodgers.

Other winners from this season heading home are Davis Riley and Vincent Normann.
