Golf, Hooters, Casinos: John Daly’s Perfect Day in Tulsa

When you think of filling up a day with a round of golf, getting some beer and wings at Hooters, and then wrapping things up by going to try your luck at the casino, you might think this sounds like a Saturday afternoon you had with the guys during your bachelor days. But this is just a typical Thursday for John Daly.

After being under par for most of the first round of the PGA Championship, the 1991 winner faltered in the last few holes to end up with a +2 72 on the day.

Still not bad for the 57-year-old with a unique way of fueling his body that you don’t see from other athletes—reports from Southern Hills were that a lot of cigarettes and Diet Dr. Peppers were consumed. But after 18 holes of major golf, what’s a fella to do?

How about dinner.

Daly is affiliated with the Hooters chain, so this one could be written off as a business expense—likely some free wings, fries, and even a beer or two if he saw fit.

And with a late tee time on Friday, Daly could spend some more time out on the town, so he ended up at a local casino trying his hand on the slots (pack of cigs and Diet Dr. Pepper both within reach).

If Daly can better his round on Friday, he could make the cut and play into the weekend, giving him more time to check out his favorite establishments and earn some spending money for those slot machines.
