Greg Norman Out as Fox Sports Golf Analyst

Originally reported on Sunday night by Links Magazine via Twitter and confirmed on Monday by a statement released by Fox Sports, Greg Norman is no longer employed by the network.

The firing does not come as much of a surprise to those of us that watched the overall train-wreck that was the U.S. Open broadcast.

According to a Golf.com source, the two-time Major Champion “didn’t do his homework and he didn’t know any players who weren’t Australian.”  The source continued by saying, “he wasn’t involved in the shows like a lead analyst should be.  He was a team player but when the cameras turned on, he just went silent.”

And when he did offer commentary, he was just wrong.

Apparently, the final nail in Norman’s analysis coffin came when Dustin Johnson three-putted to lose the U.S. Open to Jordan Spieth.

During the entire final hole, Norman offered up “this is a tricky one” before Johnson’s second putt, and then went inexplicably silent after Dustin missed the second putt.  He would eventually proclaim himself as “speechless” while watching Dustin finish his round.

This is a guy who experienced a meltdown at a Major himself and yet he had absolutely nothing to offer while we watched another one.

At the U.S. Women’s Open, Greg Norman was yet again no where to be found.  To the point that Brad Faxon, who was stationed at the 17th hole, had to provide an unusual amount of analysis to make up for the Shark’s lack of contribution.

Then again, there was also this:

Huh?

No Description

Maybe his contribution to the broadcasts were actually just him not talking.
