While playing with Ian Poulter, Shane Lowry made a hole-in-one on the 17th hole at TPC Sawgrass during THE PLAYERS Championship two weeks ago.

Poulter posted an Instagram video of himself, Lee Westwood, and Justin Rose having a nice dinner and a bottle of wine last night. All paid for my Lowry for making his ace.

It doesn’t appear that Poulter held back when ordering that bottle of wine. The 2018 Opus One rings in at just under $400 at liquor stores and probably cost somewhere near $1,000 at the restaurant the three Englishmen were at.

I guess Poulter, Westwood, and Rose have all earned the right to order that bottle of wine on Lowry. They’ve all paid their dues and are veterans on the PGA TOUR and DP World Tour.

Where did the tradition of the person who makes the ace buying drinks come from anyway? With all the luck that goes into making a hole-in-one, everyone else should be buying you and drink! Not the other way around. I guess that’s just one of those old golf traditions.

What would you order if one of your buddies made a hole in one?
