Jack Nicklaus Makes CRAZY Tiger Woods Prediction

Jack Nicklaus is the only golfer to have more Major Championships than Tiger Woods. The Golden Bear believes the Big Cat could inch closer to his record.

Nicklaus recently made a crazy claim that Woods is not done winning Major Championships, despite what many would think. Woods has not played a Major in a competitive fashion since 2019, when he won The Masters. He also finished T21 at the U.S. Open that year and finished 2nd at the PGA Championship the year before.

However, between his triumph at Augusta National and now, Woods has dealt with a car accident, which has undoubtedly hindered his golf game. Despite making the cut at the Masters in 2023, he withdrew from the tournament after a foot ailment forced him to withdraw. He finished 60th in this year’s tournament.

Still, Nicklaus does not believe it is all said and done for Tiger (via Golf Digest):

“Tiger has the ability to still play. He doesn’t play, obviously, quite as well as he did, but I think a lot of that is his physical ailments. I think there’s a question about that. But I’ve watched him hit balls a little bit and watched him play a little bit lately. He hits the ball pretty well. It’s just trying to keep his body together while he plays, particularly having to walk.”

Nicklaus believes Woods can still compete at the Majors if his body happens to cooperate. It is evident that after each round, he’s feeling the pain. He went into detail this past April about the intense rehab he has to do in between rounds, which includes massage therapy, ice baths, and other techniques to reduce swelling and inflammation.

If he can walk, he can play, Nicklaus believes:

“Could he be competitive? If he can walk the 72 holes, then sure he can. He’ll be competitive at least two rounds because that’s what he did at Augusta. And whether he’s competitive in the third … if he is competitive in the third, then he certainly will be competitive in the fourth. It’s sort of a progression in how you work.”

Woods still has the ability to play, and it is evident. The injuries may hinder his chances, but there is always the possibility of a miracle.

Do you think Tiger Woods will ever win another Major Championship?

Joey Klender is a reporter covering Equipment, Footwear, and Apparel. A huge golf fan, he calls a certain week in April his favorite of the year. Inspired by the likes of Woods, Palmer, McIlroy, and Koepka, Joey plays over 100 times a year in the South Central Pennsylvania area. When he isn't golfing, he is probably thinking about golfing, but he might be watching other sports, writing, or playing poker.
