One of the most exciting players in the game is ready to return to the golf course for his first start of 2017.  After taking a month to get ready for the season, John Daly is starting his 2017 season at the Allianz Championship this weekend.

This is something new for Daly, however, as instead of gearing up for another year on the PGA TOUR, Daly will be playing on the Champions Tour this season.  But that hasn’t stopped Daly from being his old self, as he is still suiting up in his trademark Loudmouth apparel and bringing some flair to the course.

Age is only but a number to Daly, and he is just as excited to hit the course on the Champions Tour as he was for the PGA TOUR.  After a practice round in Boca Raton, Daly stated that “I’m only 18 with 32 years of experience the way I look at it.”

That experience goes back a long way, with his two major victories at the PGA Championship and the British Open but also follows on the Champions Tour, where he first made an appearance last season at age 50.  In 15 starts last season, Daly was able to log five top-25 finishes.

While the players may be older, Daly still believes that the competition is tough and fun.  Daly stated that “For me, if I get a late afternoon (tee) time in the first round, you look up and you see somebody is 8, 9, 10-under par and I tend to push a little harder.  I think we all do a little bit.”  It drives him a little harder too, competing against a lot of players that he came up competing with in the 1990s.

Even though Daly’s first start of the season will be on the Champions Tour, we will still see the flamboyant, long hitter back on the PGA TOUR for the British Open and the PGA Championship later this year.
