Justin Thomas Outed Michael Jordan for Cheating on Hot Mic

For a lot of casual golfers, cheating or at least stretching the rules is something that comes with the game. But when you’re playing with professionals, you should expect to be called out.

This past week, Justin Thomas was playing in the Payne’s Valley Cup, a televised charity event, with Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy, and Justin Rose. The best part of the tournament is the fact that all the players were mic’d up. In a small, 18-hole event like that, you can really hear some interesting stories on the mic since all the players are being pretty casual.

We’ve already talked about one little nugget that came out of this event, the fact that Rory McIlroy’s guilty pleasure is Domino’s pizza. One interesting little tidbit that was also shared comes from Justin Thomas.

After Tiger had hit a shot well out of the fairway, spectators were attempting to locate the ball and that’s when Thomas decided to take a swipe at Michael Jordan.

MJ and JT have played some golf in the past, getting together for some friendly cash games down in Jupiter, Florida and apparently, MJ is a notorious cheater. Thomas made a wisecrack about MJ when Tiger got over to looking for his ball, making it sound like MJ loses a lot of balls and then claims to find them in a really good spot.

Here’s how the conversation went:

“It would be like playing with MJ (if we found that tee shot)… ‘I got it, it’s right here,’” Thomas said, impersonating Jordan. “‘Oh, Tiger, it kicked out; it’s the fairway.’” The other three stars busted out laughing at Thomas’ remark with Woods responding, “Love it.” “If you are not cheating, you aren’t trying,” McIlroy said.

It seems a little bush league to throw a guy under the bus when he’s not even on the course but it’s hilarious nonetheless. Regardless, I have a feeling Jordan might let his game speak for itself the next time he hits the course with JT.
