Keegan Bradley Responds to Ryder Cup Team Snub: ‘I’m Super Bummed Out’

Keegan Bradley has responded to the announcement that he will not be on this year’s Ryder Cup team despite being 11th in points and winning twice on Tour this year.

Earlier today, U.S. Team Captain Zach Johnson announced his Captain’s Picks for the Ryder Cup in Rome, Italy, in late September.

Johnson chose Brooks Koepka, Rickie Fowler, Sam Burns, Jordan Spieth, Collin Morikawa, and Justin Thomas as his six Captain’s Picks. They will join Scottie Scheffler, Brian Harman, Wyndham Clark, Xander Schauffele, Max Homa, and Patrick Cantlay.

Bradley said (via Todd Lewis):

“I could tell by the response from Zach when I answered the phone that I wasn’t on the team…I’m super bummed out. I thought I put together a really good year with two wins…I am pulling for the US Team.”

It is evident that Bradley is disappointed, and rightfully so. Bradley had a great year on Tour that included two wins, six top 10s, and 10 top 25s in 23 events this year.

Yesterday, rumors swirled that Thomas would make the team, along with Koepka, who was just 29 points outside of an automatic spot despite not playing in a single PGA Tour event all year. His PGA Championship victory at Oak Hill was the main contributor to his high positioning in the standings.

It feels unfair that Bradley is not on this team. While Thomas and Spieth have been mainstays and emotional leaders of the U.S. teams, many can’t help but feel that they should have been left off of this year’s squad due to years that were simply out of character for them.

Nevertheless, the U.S. Team will trek to Europe and attempt to win their first Ryder Cup in enemy territory in 30 years.
