Keegan Bradley revealed that Zach Johnson, who snubbed him from the 2023 Ryder Cup team in Europe as a player, told him he would be the captain for the Americans in 2025.

Yesterday, it was reported that Bradley would be announced as the captain for the Americans as they head to Bethpage Black next year to attempt to regain the cup from the Europeans.

Initially, most thought Tiger Woods would be named captain, but Woods reportedly declined the option to lead the U.S. team against the Europeans next year as he would be too busy with PGA TOUR’s negotiations with the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF).

Bradley confirmed today, however, that ZJ, who was highly criticized for his choice to leave Keegan off the team last year, was the person who called to offer him the captaincy:

“I have such respect for him. I’m so honored that he was the one who called me.”

Bradley continued:

“I was crushed. It took us a while to get over that. My whole family, we were devastated. “I know what a tough decision Zach had… I now have a different respect for what he was going through.”

Now, Bradley will be tasked with building his own team, and it will be interesting to see who he will pick. Of course, there is a full season to go before Bradley will need to make his Captain’s Picks, but it seems he will have a few things to consider, especially as LIV Golfers like Bryson DeChambeau have truly picked up steam.

Additionally, the merger between the PGA TOUR and PIF could make LIV selections more interesting.
