A lot of golfers and other celebrities tend to have fun tournaments for charitable causes. But no one’s tournament seems to bring highlights like Derek Jeter’s outing.

Ever since retiring as one of the best, if not the best, shortstop to ever play the game, Jeter has been busy with a lot of ventures, including buying the Miami Marlins. One staple in Jeter’s retired life, however, has been golf. He has hosted the Derek Jeter Celebrity Invitational in Las Vegas for several years now but this year, there was a cool little prank added to the festivities.

As the celebrities began to pack into Vegas, they were hit with a joke that is guaranteed to make you laugh.

The Player’s Tribune had a bunch of participants stand next to a statue for a picture, only for the statue to move and scare the pants off of everyone. The video shows the likes of Ray Allen, Ed Reed, Jeter, and more getting fooled by the living statue.

And this isn’t the only big moment to come out of the Derek Jeter Celebrity Invitational. In 2016, there was a video posted of Jeter appearing to make a hole-in-one on command. The crowd goes wild, along with Jeter, after the shot is hit and heads towards the hole. But the video has a caption that says “Hole-in-one by Derek Jeter…or is it?” The shot really can’t be seen clearly but it created plenty of mystery around the tournament.

It’s important to note that while they have a lot of fun at the Jeter Celebrity Invitational, the tournament does work towards a wonderful cause. All of the proceeds from the event goes towards the Turn 2 Foundation, which helps young people by supporting initiatives that promote leadership development, academic achievement, positive behavior, healthy lifestyles and social change.

Jeter’s tournament has already concluded for the year but will almost certainly return for another year in 2019. We hope that the it will continue to be successful and raise funds for the Turn 2 Foundation.
