LIV’s Joaquin Niemann Takes One Last Dig at OWGR on the Way Out
LIV Golf CEO Greg Norman announced earlier today that the circuit is done with its fight to try and earn Official World Golf Ranking points.
Joaquin Niemann’s comments after his win at LIV Golf Jeddah will serve as the final (of many) shots taken by a LIV golfer toward the OWGR.
Niemann’s win was his second of three on the LIV schedule this year, and he also won the PGA Australian Open in December.
Here is his response to being called the hottest golfer on the planet.
No question… @joaconiemann is the hottest player in the world right now 💯#LIVGolf @TorqueGC_ pic.twitter.com/fMlv30PxRc

Niemann said:
“How is that possible if I’m like 100 in the world?”
Defending LIV Golf series champion Talor Gooch said that the winner of the Masters should have an asterisk next to his name since he and other golfers who have done well in their league won’t be competing at Augusta.
But Niemann took matters into his own hands to play in enough official events (including his win in Australia) to earn invitations into the Masters and PGA Championship. If he wins or performs well there, he will have invitations to more majors.
Niemann, despite last playing in a PGA Tour event over a year ago, is No. 72 in the OWGR. Gooch is No. 449.
