It has certainly been an exciting start to the new year for Lydia Ko. Not only has she made a change to her caddy and her clubs, she has now launched her very own golf fashion line. It was announced that Ko will now be creating apparel to be worn on the golf course, a major step for the 19-year-old after only four years on the TOUR.

To design her new clothing line, Ko has agreed to a three-year deal with McKayson, a new golf wear brand based out of South Korea.  McKayson has already begun to enter the LPGA TOUR market, sponsoring the New Zealand Women’s Open this upcoming season. It is unknown how much money Ko gets from this deal but she will be a hands-on designer when it comes to her line.

Ko released a statement after the deal was announced describing her design plans stating that, “I don’t tend to wear flashy type of clothing…Even if the design is pretty but the color is not, then consumers will have second thoughts about purchasing. These are some of the things which I plan to discuss with the design team at McKayson so that my ideas are reflected in the designing of my line and hopefully turn it into something that everyone can relate to.”

While she is ready to be hands-on with the fashion line, she is also grateful for the opportunity to have her own golf fashion line. In the same statement, Ko said, “It’s only been four years since I became a professional and to be able to have my own apparel line at this time in my career is a tremendous honor. I hope this relationship will last for a long time.”

Ko is set to debut her new fashion line next month when she competes in the ISPS Handa Women’s Australian Open. This wasn’t the only fashion move Ko made today, however, as she also signed a new endorsement deal.

While Ko will be wearing her own fashion apparel, she will be wearing ECCO Golf shoes after agreeing to a deal with the company. And ECCO couldn’t be happier to have her as an endorser, as Jesper Thuen said in a statement, “What Lydia has achieved since turning professional just a few years ago is nothing short of astonishing. We couldn’t be more excited to have her representing the ECCO Golf brand.” ECCO shoes are also worn by notable players, such as Fred Couples and Ernie Els.

After making so many changes to her game and appearance this year, it will be interesting to see how it affects Ko on the course.
