NEW: A PGA TOUR Video Game Is Making It’s Return
If you’re like me, one thing that really got you interested in golf was the old PGA TOUR video games. There has been a bit of a hiatus in production for a “PGA TOUR” game, but that’s all about to change.
It was announced late last week that a new game is in production right now called, “PGA TOUR 2K21”. In the past, the original games were created by EA Sports, the same group that develops the Madden games. The shift to 2K Sports is an interesting change as the company typically puts focus on their trademark NBA video game. Perhaps 2K Sports is looking to expand their brand?
There are plenty of reasons to be excited about the new game! For one, this game is an official licensed product so the game will almost certainly include realistic player and course designs. This would be the first time this development has happened since 2014’s, “Rory McIlroy PGA TOUR.” In addition, the game is being created by the same people who developed “The Golf Club 2019”, a game which fans raved about when it came out.

The addition that should have video game fans the most excited about is the potential of the “my player” mode that might be included. 2K Sports’ NBA video games is often lauded as the best point of view player mode in all sports games. With that type of pedigree, 2K should be able to create an extremely realistic and enjoyable experience for someone looking to create their own PGA TOUR career with a created player.
Besides the release of a short trailer, there is not much that is known about the actual specs of the game. There is also no confirmation as to which PGA TOUR players will be included in the game or what courses will be featured. Regardless of the actual specifics, the whole idea of the game has to get people excited, especially with no golf being played in real time, currently.
I’m sure more details will be released within the upcoming weeks. It’s definitely something for all golf fans to keep an eye on because even if some events are postponed or suspended, you could soon have your own opportunity to win some majors.
