The 2023 Masters is finally here, and with it, the newest spring looks from the apparel companies. And leading the pack are offerings from Greyson, Original Penguin, and adidas Golf, who will be outfitting four of the favorites going into the competition this year—Justin Thomas, Cam Smith, and Xander Schauffele + Collin Morikawa, respectively.

Greyson Clothiers has become one of golf’s most premier apparel companies. After working for Ralph Lauren for 13 years, Charlie Schaefer founded his own brand—Greyson Clothiers. Schaefer, who named the brand after his daughter, said his mantra for the apparel brand is those who stand up for what they believe in and know when it’s time to lead the pack—the source of its wolf branding.

The brand really became a household name after partnering with defending PGA Champion JT in 2022, making sure that one of the TOUR’s top talents looks the part. And for the Masters, JT will be sporting four great looks that feature unique colors and patterns that just work together.

My personal favorite is Sunday’s look, consisting of the Cayuse Polo in Sunday pink, Montauk Trouser in Abyss (navy), and the Narragansett Shawl Sweater also in Abyss. The look features a beautiful color combination of vibrant pinks and bold blues that would look perfect on the course and in Augusta National’s clubhouse during the (hopeful) post-victory presser.

Cam Smith’s Masters Scripting c/o Original Penguin

Like the Masters, Original Penguin is one of the few clothing brands that have longevity. Dating back to 1955, Original Penguin is credited with being the creator of the original classic golf shirt. But that doesn’t mean their style has gone stale.

For the Masters, Original Penguin has outfitted defending Open Champion Cam Smith in looks that feature a combination of deep blues and soft whites, and pink, with a mix of solids and patterns.

Again, the Sunday look is what jumps out to me the most. The All Over Heritage Floral Print Polo in Rose Bouquet is a perfect spring, soft pink.

adidas Golf is another brand and has found the winner’s circle in recent with Dustin Johnson’s 2020 Masters victory. While they have not yet confirmed scripting for the full weekend, adidas’ recently released [Fair]way Floral Collection will be part of it and feature a unique colorway that celebrates the blossoming flowers.

But perhaps most troubling (or disappointing) is Nike Golf. Despite being one of the biggest names in sports apparel, Nike does not appear to be releasing any Masters scripting and, instead, will be dressing its golfers in standard Nike Golf apparel.

The Majors often bring with them unique, fun, and desirable apparel and accessories, but Nike has (again) decided to decline to make special gear for golf’s most celebrated event: the Masters.

Keep your eyes open for more unique looks and limited edition releases that will be featured throughout the weekend.

Ever since golf became a competitive outlet, nothing brings Eric more joy than a well struck 4 iron. And despite living in NYC, Eric makes it a priority to work on his game and fitness during the week, along with a round or two over the weekend. Fortunately, he’s got a very understanding fiancé who (for the time being) accepts him and his obsession. Follow Eric on IG @hozel_rocket.
