It’s Official: Jason Day Signs Mega Deal With Nike
Jason Day waited for the very end of 2016 to announce via Instagram that he will be head to toe in the Nike swoosh from the very beginning of 2017. The change became official on Sunday, January 1st and it looks as if the No. 1 Player in the World has a few other sponsors in store as well.
All the talk has been around Tiger and Rory with regards to what clubs they would switch too after Nike exited the golf equipment business, but since the big cat moved on to TaylorMade and Rory jumped to Callaway, the only remaining news pending was Jason’s.
“Joining Nike is a dream come true,” Day said in the press release. “The brand is synonymous with the world’s best athletes. I’m honored and can’t wait to be part of the team and working closely with Nike to take my game, and the sport of golf, to even higher levels.”
The young Aussie will be decked out in Nike apparel at this week’s Tournament of Champions in Kapalua to kick off the 2017 side of the TOUR schedule.
There has been no rumors of dollar amounts with the deal but you have to assume a mega brand like Nike took great care of the Day family. Now if I can persuade Jay to donate all of his remaining Adidas swag to yours truly, that would be the icing on the cake.
The only remaining top caliber pro wearing TaylorMade/Adidas gear is Dustin Johnson so you can bet on it that his deal will be coming soon from someone, somewhere.
Yep, being on top of ranks in Pro Golf definitely has it perks.
