It’s a record payday for Xander Schauffele.

While the Open Championship is the lowest-paying of the four majors, the 2024 edition still set a record for the event with a purse of $17 million and $3.1 million for the winner at Royal Troon.

That’s up for last year’s then-record of $16.5 and $3 million, respectively, for Brian Harman at Royal Liverpool.

In comparison, the purse for this year’s U.S. Open was $21.5 million, the Masters at $20 million, and $18.5 million for the PGA Championship. The PGA Tour’s eight signature events, the Players Championship, and all LIV Golf events dish out more money than the Open Championship. But there’s only one Claret Jug.

Here’s a list of the top payouts from this year’s Open Championship (More information on payouts will be added as available):

1:  $3.1 million – Xander Schauffele

2:  $1.443,500 – Justin Rose, Billy Horschel

4. $876,000 – Thriston Lawrence

5:   $705,000 – Russell Henley

6:  $611,000 – Shane Lowry

7:  $451,834 – Jon Rahm, Sunjae Im, Scottie Scheffler

10: $317,534 – Adam Scott, Matthew Jordan, Daniel Brown
