When LIV Golf came into existence, there were a few names that seemed to be no-brainers that would join. Sergio Garcia was one, and Patrick Reed was the other.

Reed recently explained on Instagram how LIV Golf has improved his life and his family’s life, and why he thinks everyone should get out to a LIV Golf event this year.

“I was visiting with my children last night, and I must say my heart is warmed,” Reed said. “I listened as they reminisced with smiles and longing about the recent @livgolf_league tournament held at @The_Greenbrier, and it’s just very telling of what this league does. As a family, we’re able to #makememories together.”

“1. #familyfriendly events scheduled throughout provides games, community involvement, concerts, and entertainment for all.
2. I don’t know a single player in this league who doesn’t love the even playing field of the #shotgunstart
3. # Festivities are high-energy, fun! This should also apply to #bestgolffans @LIVGolfNation
4. #locationlocationlocation These worldwide tournaments are held at some of the most prestigious and challenging courses around the globe
5. #teams The team aspect is one of my favorite parts. We’ve got camaraderie and competition in the same tournament. Let’s go @4acesgc_ !!
6. #bestbroadcast I can’t say enough the great things I continually hear about the broadcast, the presentation of the scoreboard, and the app! It’s so easy to watch and follow along.

There’s a list of great things to love! Even playing Friday-Sunday adds to the ease. If you haven’t attended, there are just a few left this season, and I really think fans of this sport are sure to enjoy. IYKYK.”

Polarizing Opinions

LIV Golf has been a disruptive force in golf for two years, and while it has changed lives for many, including those that already had a solid living and foundation.

However, it has not been fully accepted by many who are still challenged by the funding of the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund (PIF).

As more golfers have fled the PGA Tour for LIV, it seems the leagues have both provided some stability for the players in the form of financing, but the merger that has been promised by the PGA Tour and the PIF is still up in the air.

Along with the commitment that the PGA Tour and PIF have agreed upon, although the terms are still not finalized, fans and golfers alike are not convinced things will eventually work themselves out.

The most recent Players Meeting with PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan resulted in what seemed like more skepticism from players, especially those who are also on the Players Board, like Rory McIlroy.

It was reported that McIlroy, who has been supportive of Monahan and defended his Tour, was dripping in sweat as he left a workout in lieu of listening to what Tour executives had to say regarding the merger.

The opinions of players and fans alike truly are polarizing, and among the varying perspectives there are on LIV Golf, no two seem to align. However, Reed’s newest post seems to highlight the positives that LIV has provided him and his family.

Inspired by the likes of Woods, Palmer, McIlroy, and Koepka, Joey plays over 100 times a year in the South Central Pennsylvania area. When he isn't golfing, he is probably thinking about golfing, but he might be watching other sports, writing, or playing poker.
