Phil Mickelson Makes Shocking Prediction About PGA TOUR Superstar

Phil Mickelson has not shied away from being outspoken or publicly announcing his hottest takes on golf and other topics. But, this might be his hottest take yet!

Mickelson came after World #1 Scottie Scheffler in his latest hot take, claiming he does not believe the two-time and defending Masters Champion will win in 2025 before the Ryder Cup, which is set to take place in late September:

While this is perhaps one of the craziest takes a fan or player of the game of golf could have, Mickelson could be on to something. Scheffler started off 2024 with blazing-hot performances, winning huge events like the Arnold Palmer Invitational and THE PLAYERS, among other tournaments, before taking hold of his second Green Jacket in April.

However, 2025 has been a different story. While Scheffler has played well, he has not kept the level that he has in past years so far. He has yet to win on the PGA TOUR this year, but he has not played badly whatsoever.

In the four tournaments Scheffler has played, he has made four cuts and cracked the Top 10 twice. However, when you’re the most dominant player since Tiger Woods when a season gets off to a start without a victory, skeptics tend to creep in.

Mickelson might not be one of those skeptics, as it is obvious he has a lot of respect for Scheffler. However, there is no denying that Scottie has had a slower-than-expected start in 2025. Will he be winless by the time the Ryder Cup rolls around? We doubt it.

But it wouldn’t be a hot take without some contradiction.

Inspired by the likes of Woods, Palmer, McIlroy, and Koepka, Joey plays over 100 times a year in the South Central Pennsylvania area. When he isn't golfing, he is probably thinking about golfing, but he might be watching other sports, writing, or playing poker.
