Pieters Seeking His Third European Tour Title in Thailand
After three action-packed days in Hua-Hin, there are many players in contention for the True Thailand Classic title, including Belgian Thomas Pieters who shot two consecutive rounds of 66.
The big-hitting Belgian is in with a chance of claiming his third European Tour Title as he is currently sat in tied third position two shots behind leader Scott Hend.
The 24-year-old shot an opening round of 73, which put him in danger of missing the cut for the weekend, however Pieters managed to hole six birdies on Friday and Saturday, which has catapulted him into contention for a third European Tour title after back-to-back wins last summer.
Winning in Thailand is not the only aim for Thomas Pieters this week, as a good result will ensure his place into the WGC-Dell Match Play in two weeks time – and being 66th in the world rankings, he is on the cusp of qualification.
One shot clear of the Belgian at Black Mountain Golf Club is Pieter Uihlein, who shot a third round of 69 to head into the final round in strong second place, after playing unwell on Friday.
The American is also two shots ahead of David Lipsky, Shaun Norris and Benjamin Herbert, with many more players behind on 8 and 9 under par, setting tomorrow up for an exciting final day.
