Earlier this week Mike and I were playing a challenging, yet incredibly memorable, round at Ridgewood Country Club ahead of the upcoming Northern Trust FedExCup Playoff event.

Obviously the opportunity to recreate Phil Mickelson’s infamous “Phil was Here” shot at Ridgewood’s Five & Dime hole was one we simply could not pass up.

For those of you who don’t remember Phil’s foray into the grandstands at the 2014 Barclays here’s how it all went down:

Phil Mickelson’s wedge from hospitality area is No. 9 shot of 2014

In the third round of The Barclays, Phil Mickelson remarkably found the hospitality area to the left of the par-4 5th hole for a second consecutive day. Lefty thrilled fans when he found a way to hit his approach on the green, setting up a birdie try that would result in a memorable par.

With the grandstands going up for this year’s tournament we decided to take our own crack at Phil’s hospitality tent shot.

Recreating the Infamous “Phil Was Here” Shot

The 2014 Barclays played at Ridgewood Country Club left us with plenty of memorable moments. But perhaps no single swing from that FedExCup Playoff event has gained more attention than the now infamous “Phil Was Here” shot. PGA TOUR fans will remember Phil’s shots from the hospitality tent that year.

So do you think you could pull off Phil’s shot? Let us know in the comments.
