Rickie Fowler Played With Michael Jordan To Prepare for PGA Championship
After receiving a special exemption to play in this year’s PGA Championship at Kiawah, Rickie Fowler is doing all he can to make sure he puts out his best at the Ocean Course. Part of Fowler’s preparation for the tournament involved playing golf with Michael Jordan; yes, that Michael Jordan.

The two linked up for some fun at MJ’s home course, The Grove XXIII, which was commissioned and owned by Jordan himself.
“Playing against M.J. is as good as it gets to prep,” Fowler said in his post round interview following Thursday’s 1-under effort. “He’s good.”
Fowler and Jordan are no strangers to a friendly match. The two have played on numerous occasions, according to Fowler, and money is definitely on the table when they hit the course.
“I think not having to hand out any money to MJ has been probably the bigger win,” Fowler said, who generally gives Jordan 10 strokes. “If I’m able to win the original match and not have him flip the original match because of the press or multiple presses, if I don’t lose money to him, that’s actually a win.” While numbers haven’t been disclosed, his “Airness” surely has plenty of money to throw down for the friendly competitions between the two.
In the case that Fowler did lose big to Jordan this last time around, a paycheck from Kiawah Island could go a long way.
