ROASTED: Abraham Ancer Gets Destroyed On Twitter After Losing To Tiger
The United States pulled off a major comeback in the Presidents Cup this past weekend, pulling out the win in the final few matches. This left the fan base and players pumped up, however, the smack talk ramped up once some of Abraham Ancer’s old comments were unveiled.
Ancer was the player that went up against Tiger Woods in the one on one match play that closed out the Presidents Cup. Ancer went on to lose the match to Woods 3 and 2 but the real story was the old comments that he had made regarding Tiger. It was revealed that Ancer had asked to play Woods and was hoping for the matchup.
“Abe wanted it, and he got it.”

Fans did not take any time at all to jump on those comments as the memes quickly spread across social media.
Tiger himself was the one who originally got the smack talk going. After the match, Tiger stated, “Abe wanted it, he got it.” Tiger’s triumphant remarks exploded the social media attacks on Ancer even more.
Because of all of the intrigue that the comments created, Ancer felt the need to address the issue at his press conference. “When they asked me that at Mayakoba, first of all that question was in Spanish, so the tone when I said it, it was never like cocky or challenging or anything like that,” Ancer said. “At the moment I thought it would be a great experience, which it was. No matter what, with the outcome of the match, I would have gained a lot. I would have become a better player just from being in that situation.”
Great, great perspective from Abraham Ancer: “I knew going into the match no matter what, I was going to come out a better player just from being in this situation. I think that was the case.” #respect

You have to feel bad for Ancer since he’s getting destroyed on social media for a snarky comment that he never intended to come off as such. It’s even worse when you consider the fact that Ancer put up some great numbers this week for the International team. Heading into his match with Tiger, Ancer had won 3 matches and tied 1 in the fourball and foursome matchups.
This seems like a situation where a lot of people let an old comment get out of hand, all because of the heat of the moment. It’s unfortunate for Ancer, but he still has some strong play to build on heading into 2020. Hopefully he takes that positive momentum and turns in a strong showing in the new year.
