Rory McIlroy caught a crazy stray during coverage of the 2024 Presidential Election.

When discussing the performance of one of the candidates, an ABC News political commentator said that they had “bombed like Rory at the U.S. Open.”

McIlroy has been chasing his first Major in a decade, and his best chance was during this past season when he was in prime position to win the U.S. Open at Pinehurst.

However, McIlroy missed two putts at very makeable distances late during the final round, which eliminated his chances and handed the victory to Bryson DeChambeau.

Rory announced shortly after the crushing defeat that he would be stepping away from golf for a few weeks, which was totally understandable.

McIlroy has been sitting in a very strange position this year as he has been close to victories on several occasions but has not been able to close the deal.
