Rory McIlroy Threw His 3-Wood Onto The New Jersey Turnpike

Yes, you read that headline correctly…Rory’s 3-Wood is in a tree somewhere off the NJ Turnpike.

Proving that no club in the bag is safe, Rory admitted in a pre-round interview yesterday that he made short work of his 3-wood on the 9th hole at Liberty National.

“I threw my 3-wood onto the New Jersey Turnpike off the 9th hole on Monday, and so I was without a 3-wood coming [to the BMW Championship]”

As of this moment, no one has come forward claiming to have recovered the club, but that hasn’t stopped a few online-detectives from surmising where it may be.

And Rory said the club is there for the taking:

“I mightn’t have reached the road but I threw it into the trees off the 9th tee at Liberty National…so if someone wants to go get a 3-wood, there’s one in there somewhere.”

I’d be willing to bet you 100 bucks the club lands on eBay by this afternoon.
