Security Is Preparing For Protests At The Open Championship

Just Stop Oil protesters have been disrupting sporting events for some time now, with the infamous orange paint, spray, or even confetti – leaving their mark in their attempts to garner attention. Their agenda is basically a clamp down on fossil fuels.

Snooker was a victim; many roads and highways have been brought to a standstill, and the Open Championship reports that security is on high alert – in anticipation of a possible incident at this week’s Open.

At the Ashes cricket test last month, Jonny Bairstow forcibly removed a Just Stop Oil protestor from the field. The Merseyside police at Hoylake have prepared several assets to avoid this happening again, with players taking the matter into their own hands.

Hopefully, the Open Championship will not be ruined by protestors and will be enjoyed by all. Links golf brings tradition, battling the elements, unfortunate bounces, and sloping lies – everything we saw at the Renaissance last week but elevated once again.
