Coming down the home stretch, Collin Morikawa was rudely interrupted by what the NBC broadcast crew thought was a whoopie cushion. The laughing Morikawa calmly backed off his tee-shot, until he could compose himself, before hitting one of the most important shots of his life.

It’s now been confirmed that the broadcast crew’s suspicion of a whoopie cushion being used to distract Morikawa wasn’t all that far off from what actually happened.

“Some spectator, at some point in the day, snuck a little old school microphone, like a recording. Threw it underneath one of the marshals around there and started playing these farting noises right as I was about to swing,” Morikawa said on Barstool’s Pardon My Take podcast.
