Two years ago Titleist decided to take its metal woods in a new, technology-driven direction. The TS-Series was the largest step forward in Titleist metalwoods since the 910 series, and was very well-received by players of all skill levels, including Justin Thomas who commented that TS actually stood for “the shit” (as opposed to Titleist Speed).

So it goes without saying that golfers are eager to see what developments will come in the newest iteration: the TSi.

While nothing has been officially confirmed about the changes being made, we can presume that, since the nomenclature has remained the same, the TS2 continues will be the model that prioritizes forgiveness and high MOI, with adjustment limited to a rear weight, while the TS3 will be the more low-spin, low launch model with additionally adjustability.

However, with respect to TS3’s adjustability, it appears that the SureFit CG weight bar has been replaced by an adjustable weight track at the rear of the crown.

The new TSi’s will make their first appearances this week at both the PGA TOUR’s Safeway Open and European Tour’s Portugal Masters and marks the start of Titleist’s tour seeding and validation process in advance of their first true test: the U.S. Open at Winged Foot (September 17th to 20th).

It’ll be interesting to hear what specific changes were made, along with the new features packed under the hood, that help advance the TSi’s.
