SPOTTED: New Wilson Golf D7 Forged Irons
Last week, Wilson Golf announced the release of its Staff Wedges. However, since not all of us possess Gary Woodland’s ball striking prowess, Wilson Golf has also released an iron that will allow us to play our best: the 2020 D7 Forged Irons.
Created with tour-inspired styling, a forged soft carbon steel face, a urethane Power Chamber and Power Holes, the newest iteration D7 Forged Irons are designed to provide golfers with the often-sought after forged feel and distance.
Notably, the D7 has been designed with minimal offset and a thinner topline. Indeed, in comparison to the inaugural D7 irons, the D7 Forged Irons not only look great, but also feel great thanks to a soft 8620 carbon steel face supported by a urethane-filled power chamber and V-shaped cavity.
“Combining the distance technologies from the original D7 line with the aesthetics of Wilson Staff’s players irons, the D7 Forged Irons provide an ideal blend of maximum distance and ultimate feel for golfers looking for effortless distance and ultimate control,” said Jon Pergande, Manager of Golf Club Innovation. “Through the optimized sole and face thickness, urethane-filled Power Chamber and centered power holes, the new D7 Forged Irons give golfers remarkable ball speeds, shot-making ability, and a soft forged feel across the entire club face.”
With respect to the Power Chamber and Power Hole structures, the newest iterations are designed to designed to reduce vibration for a more solid and consistent feel at impact. Furthermore, the combination of the Power Holes, thinner face and thicker sole help generate ample distance and higher ball speeds.
The D7 Forged Irons will be available at golf retailers on January 21st, 2020, and will be available with KBS $-Taper Lite steel shafts for $899.99 and True Temper Catalyst Black 80 graphite shafts for $999.99. Regardless of whether you prefer steel or graphite, the D7s will be equipped with Golf Pride’s Tour Velvet grip.
