Ten All-Time Greatest PGA TOUR Hole in One Countdown

The hole in one is perhaps golf’s greatest spectacle. Ask any golfer who’s made one and he or she will riddle you with every detail of that once in a lifetime swing.
Through the years there have been a number of amazing hole in one moments captured on the PGA TOUR. After scouring hundreds on YouTube, we’ve found what we think should be considered the all-time greatest PGA TOUR hole in ones ever recorded.
Here they are:
#10 David Toms – 2001 PGA Championship
It’s not often you see an ACE with a 5-wood, a club that’s difficult to land softly and generates virtually no backspin, but Toms knocked his 243 yard tee shot right up the gut, landing the ball about 10 feet in front of the pin where it took three perfect bounces before dunking in.
Toms beat Mickelson by one stroke to win the major championship with this shot being an important key to his victory.

#9 Tiger Woods – 1997 Waste Management Phoenix Open
It was on the now famous 16th (Stadium) hole at TPC Scottsdale where Tiger, surrounded by a boisterous crowd, drilled a pin rattling hole in one. The response was no “golf clap,” as the large, rowdy crowd went crazy, even going so far as to begin throwing beer bottles through the air.
Although he didn’t win the event, the 21 year old (at the time) left with one of the most memorable shots of his career, a pretty exclusive list to say the least.
As a quick side note, Tiger made his first ace at the tender young age of 6.

#8 Miguel Angel Jimenez – 2015 Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Classic
It was a one-hop into the the bottom of the cup for “The Most Interesting Golfer in the World” when he knocked in a soft tee shot at the 2015 Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Classic. He ended up finished in 20th place despite the 1 on the scorecard, but we’re pretty sure it was a good feeling knocking that shot down.

#7 Tiger Woods – 1996 U.S. Bank Championship (Pro Debut)
No surprise here…it’s Tiger once again. This one dates all the way back to 1996 when Tiger made his PGA TOUR debut at the U.S. Bank Championship, and he did so in world in record fashion.
At just 20 years old, Tiger splashed onto the scene with this dramatic ace and has since become arguably the best golfer of all-time. Let’s see the start of that famous fist-pump!

#6 Zach Johnson –2014 US Open
Johnson seemed to pull this shot almost out of nowhere against a tough Pinehurst course with tricky turtleback greens and among some very high scores. We love this ace because the field was so beaten up (aside from Kaymer that is) by the course, but Zach ignited a spark from the crowd with his 7-iron.
Not sure which we enjoy more, the terrific shot, or the awkward resulting celebration!

#5 Fred Couples – 1997 PLAYERS Championship
This is just one of the Freddie’s aces at Sawgrass to make our list, and surprisingly its not even the best one!
In 1997 Fred finished T10, and although the ace didn’t matter much, it still represents one of the best shots from tee to green ever recorded the famous island hole.
Sorry for the awkward YouTube user video effects on this one. We’re dizzy too.

#4 Jonathan Byrd – 2010 Shriners Hospital for Children Open
What’s better than an ace? How about an ace in a playoff to win the tournament?
In 2010, Jonathan Byrd did just that when he stepped up to the 204 par-3 17th hole, the fourth hole of the sudden death playoff. Even Byrd himself couldn’t believe it.

#3 Leif Olson – 2009 RBC Canadian Open
In 2009, Olson had one of the most talked about hole in ones of the year as he pulled back a 132 yard wedge shot that ricocheted off of playing partner Chris Blanks’ ball, ultimately rolling into the hole for an ace.
Excellent use of a playing partner’s tee shot Leif! A little billiards anyone?

#2 Fred Couples – 1999 PLAYERS Championship
In 1999, a struggling Fred Couples reached the 17th green at 5-over par. The veteran smacked his tee shot short and put it in the drink.
Freddie tee it up again and calmly dunked it directly into the cup for a “hole-in-three.” Talk about making par “the hard way”.

#1 Fuzzy Zoeller – 2006 Allianz Championship
This is hands down the wildest and most unexpected hole in one we’ve seen in a long time.
There is no need for an explanation for this tee shot from Fuzzy, just press play and be amazed.
