When you commit to a putter, the problem is that sometimes you change your swing and other times you play on different conditions. For the serious, knowledgable golfer, that often meant changing loft and lie on a machine or adding (or removing) lead tape.  Additionally, these changes are necessary to take an otherwise standardized putter and tailor it to you.

TaylorMade’s Spider GT Max looks to eliminate these inconveniences and shortcomings by offering a level of custom putter fitting that’s not been seen elsewhere.

Building off the very popular, successful TaylorMade Spider mallet design, the Spider GT Max features two 40-gram sliding tungsten weights on the sole that can be positioned to influence CG, toe hang and face rotation so you can find the perfect combination for your putting stroke.

The sole weights are designed to be used in conjunction with each other to help dial in accuracy.  For players who miss to the left, the weights can be moved to Position 1 (farthest back) to slow down face rotation. For players who miss to the right, the opposite—Position 3 (farthest forward) to help the face close faster. For the humans (two way missers), Position 2 is a neutral setting.

Alongside the Spider GT Max’s adjustable sole weights, the putter also features a lightweight 6061 aluminum construction with a hollowed-out core that allows weight to redistributed to the perimeter for improved stability—MOI above 5300—and the PureRoll face insert that is designed to improve topspin across the face and promote a smooth, consistent end-over-end roll on the greens.

The Spider GT Max is available in 33″, 34″ and 35″ lengths and with a two shaft options:  a short slant, single bend and center shaft hosel options. A face-balanced Armlock offering is available in 40″ and 42.”  The Spider GT Max will retail at $349 and is available now for pre-order and in retailers from February 24th.

For those who want a Spider GT Max that will stand out from every other one on the course, TaylorMade also offers a custom version—the MySpider GTX—that gives golfers 13 top plate color options and 22 face-plate and 14 paint-fill options, among a host of sightline, alignment and weight variations.
