TOUR News: Jason Day Signs Ball Deal with Bridgestone Golf
The golf ball is, arguably, the single most important piece of equipment in a golfer’s bag. Indeed, it’s the only piece of equipment you use on every single shot and, with the help of modern technologies and materials, the golf ball can have a measurable impact on how high or low shots fly or how little or how much spin they impart, with the performance characteristics changing if it’s a driver, iron or wedge shot.
So when a TOUR player signs an equipment deal, it’s often overlooked whether or not the ball is or isn’t a required aspect of the deal.

After parting ways with TaylorMade about 1 year ago, Jason Day has been a struggling free agent. Fortunately, however, Day has shown a recent resurgence in his game—including a pair of T-3s at the QBE Shootout and Farmers Insurance Open—that has led him to be a sleeper pic for the upcoming Arnold Palmer Invitational.
And while Day remains unmarried to any driver, iron, wedge or even putter manufacturer, he—with some input from the accomplished Mr. Tiger Woods—has decided that Bridgestone Golf will be a foundational piece of his bag going forward.
Day’s interest in Bridgestone was sparked while watching Tiger—likely while the two were TaylorMade staffers—hit some greenside shots. The spin characteristics particularly caught his attention, and even led him to put a Bridgestone in play.
Day said:
“We were doing some short-game work with Tiger’s ball, the XS, and it caught my attention right away… I initially played the XS and liked it but after working with Bridgestone’s R&D team and really learning about the ball fitting process, it was obvious that the TOUR B X was the best fit for my game.”

Hopefully the Bridgestone career can mark the beginning of the comeback story for the former World No. 1.
By joining Bridgestone, Day will be surrounded by plenty of accomplished golfers—Tiger, Bryson DeChambeau, Fred Couples, Lexi Thompson and Matt Kuchar—to speak with between rounds to help him rise back up the World Ranking leaderboards.
