Tyrell Hatton Gets Distracted By Fiancee’s on-Course Bathroom Break

It’s pretty common in the golf world today to have some players distracted by something that fans are doing in the boundaries. It is rather rare, however, that the culprit of the distraction is someone the player actually knows.

This week, the European Tour is holding the Italian Open and there are several quality players in the field. One of those players is Tyrell Hatton, who is starting to make a name for himself in the golf world as a boom or bust player, both on the course and with his emotions. So when Hatton was distracted in the middle of a backswing during the tournament, people expected that he might go off.

But Hatton curiously started asking the person questions about what had happened. That’s when Hatton had to look back at the cameraman and tell him that his fiancee was the cause of the noise. He then got a little bit of a laugh out of the whole thing.“Is that you? What you doing?” Hatton said before he looked at the broadcasters through the camera. “That’s my fiancée. You should be ashamed,” he joked.

That’s not even the end of the laughs, however. As we came to find out later, the noise that had distracted Hatton was his fiancee shutting the door of a port-a-potty too loud. You know that old saying if you gotta go, you gotta go? That must have been true for the future Mrs. Hatton but her timing was just off. Hatton also joked on social media afterward that the wedding was off because of #toiletgate.

Fortunately for Hatton and his fiancee, the slamming of the toilet door didn’t do much of anything to slow down Tyrell. After he was able to get back over the ball, he hit a beautiful approach shot that went a little more than five feet away from the cup. Even though he missed that putt, Hatton still shot -2 on the day and comfortably made the cut to continue playing this weekend.

I’m sure that Hatton’s fiancee got a nice talking to about golf etiquette once the round was over but overall, I’m sure the couple laughed about it. It’s already a memorable moment but the only thing that could make it better would be if Tyrell could make a comeback and take home the championship this weekend.
