Uncertainty Dominates Tiger Woods Press Conference
Well that was depressing.
Tiger Woods held a press conference on Tuesday ahead of the Hero World Challenge, a tournament which he hosts. The former world number one did not have much to say about when he would play again, which somehow spoke volumes to those listening.
What we aren't hearing from Tiger right now should concern his fans. The depth of uncertainty is greater than we've ever heard.

“I don’t have an answer as to when I will be back”
Woods further explained, “I have nothing to look forward to. There is no timetable.”

What he originally thought was hip pain turned out to be a back issue requiring two procedures to repair. Both surgeries were microdiscectomies on the same spot as the original surgery, which was also a microdiscectomy.
At this point, he has yet to even begin any rehab activities, stating his current allowable activity is limited to only walking.
Woods admitted not having a timetable for a recovery and return has been a difficult adjustment.
“There is no timetable for this and that’s been the hardest mindset adjustment is that I don’t know. So where is the light at the end of the tunnel? I don’t know… I listen to my surgeon, I listen to my physios, and we just take it day by day. Hopefully the day-by-day adds up to something positive here soon.”
He also added that he has no idea if he would be playing golf by this time next year. The current goal is simply to be healthy enough to play soccer with his two children.
“If I can get to that, then we can start talking about golf,” he said.
Overall, at least for fans of Tiger Woods, the press conference was a sobering and saddening view of a once dominant athlete.
Among his fans, included Rory McIlroy, who took to Instagram to wish his idol and friend a speedy recovery.
“Golf without him doesn’t bear thinking about. Hope to see you back on the course soon.”
I think many of us echo those sentiments. Along with those of what used to be a must follow on Twitter, GC Tiger Tracker.
Let's call this a wrap. Not that I've ever needed a reason to drink, but I certainly have one today.

Unfortunately, golf without Tiger Woods seems to be the reality for quite some time to come.
So very depressing.
