US OPEN: WHO IN THE WORLD IS DAVIS THOMPSON?
WHO IS DAVIS THOMPSON?
Davis Thompson was an early leader before dropping to -1 to finish his first ever US. Open round.
The number 4 ranked amateur is a junior at The University of Georgia where he has emerged as young golfer. He earned his entry into the U.S. Open by virtue of his number 4 World Amateur Golf Ranking. Today we was teamed up with two Georgia alums, Brendon Todd and Harris English.

On the bag this week, Todd Thompson, his father who had to take off of work this week to caddie for his son. Todd had caddied for his son many times in his career, but he had to step in this week at Winged Foot in his sons’ first major event.
Todd stated, “When all the rules came out we decided I’d come out here with him so I could even watch,”
Since Covid, only Trainer, coach and caddie would be allowed on site, in order to watch his son this week, he would have to be on the bag.
Davis Thompson (+50000) just became the first amateur to shoot in the 60s in the US Open at Winged Foot since Bobby Jones in 1929.

As Davis makes a push to get back to the top of the leaderboard at Winged Foot this week, I look forward to seeing what else this kid can do out there.
