Will Zalatoris Reportedly Set a Course Record Just Six Months After Back Surgery
Will Zalatoris reportedly set a course record at Brook Hollow Golf Club in Dallas, Texas, by firing a 63 at the private course just six months after having back surgery.
At the 2022 BMW Championship, Zalatoris was forced to withdraw due to an issue with his back that could not be resolved during his round. It ended up being the last time we’ve seen Zalatoris on TOUR until earlier this year, where he ended up making another WD at the Masters, and ultimately, he ended up cutting his season short.

He underwent a microdiscectomy, which helps relieve pain when a herniated disc in the spine presses on an adjacent nerve.
Zalatoris said in a statement:
“As much as I hate not being able to play the rest of this season, I am happy that I am already seeing the benefits of the procedure. Playing and living in pain is not fun.”
Earlier this month, we reported on the fact that Zalatoris had been listed in the field for the Hero World Challenge, an event run by Tiger Woods in the Bahamas. Zalatoris just recently returned to chipping, and eventually full-swing practice as his back is finally to the point that it has healed.
It seems Zalatoris is back to form after firing a 63 at Brook Hollow GC in Dallas, according to Underdog Golf.

Zalatoris remains listed in field for the Hero World Challenge (11/30-12/3); uncertain if he’ll make a PGA Tour start before then.

Zalatoris is still listed on the Hero World Challenge player list, and there is no indication that he will push his back and make a PGA Tour start before then. However, as a fan favorite, many are waiting for Willy Z to get back in action, and many golf fans are excited to see what changes he’s made to his swing to put less stress on his back.
