Martin Borgmeier Attempts to Break World Record for Most Drives Over 300 Yards in 60 Minutes

The DP World Tour likes to set golfers up with the possibility of setting new Guinness World Records.

The latest contestant was World Long Drive champ Martin Borgmeier.

The challenge: hit 459 drives over 300 yards in one hour. That equates to one 300-yard bomb every 7.8 seconds.

The attempt took place at London Golf Club last month on a day that happened to be cold and wet, making conditions even more difficult.

Armed with a Callaway Paradym driver, Borgmeier took aim with a friend teeing the ball up for him. A small army of Guinness officials were on hand to count and measure.

At stake was breaking the record set in 2016 by American Lynn Ray at the Riverwalk Golf Club in San Diego.

At the conclusion of the hour, Borgmeier was informed that he cleared the 300-yard mark 401 times. Ray, known as “Captain Crush,” saw his record preserved.

In 2021, the DP World Tour organized four golfers to set the record for the fastest hole of golf. On a 501-yard hole at Valderrama in Spain, Sean Crocker, Nicolai Hojgaard, Wilco Nienaber, and Min Woo Lee set the new record of 24.75 seconds, breaking the old mark by about three seconds.
