Fantasy Golf Picks, Odds, and Predictions for the 2015 RBC Canadian Open

The 2015 RBC Canadian Open Preview

We’re thrilled to announce that our sleeper pick (Zach Johnson) came out on top at the British Open after a dramatic four hole playoff.  The victory marks our fourth win in five tournaments we have now  successfully picked all three major winners this season!

  • The Masters (Jordan Spieth)
  • The U.S. Open (Jordan Spieth)
  • The Open Championship (Zach Johnson)

We’ll touch more on British Open picks results in a moment but for now let’s get you geared up for this week.

With the third major in the books, the TOUR begins its final stretch towards the FedExCup Playoffs as players meet in Ontario for this week’s RBC Canadian Open.

Expect a lot of withdrawals this week due to the Monday Finish at The Open (at least for any players who made the cut).  We wouldn’t be surprised to see Jason Day bow out after spending an extra day in the Scottish rain.

Tim Clark, the 2014 RBC Canadian Champion was forced to miss the British Open due to some issues with his visa, but he’s switched his focus to trying to defend his title at Glen Abbey—like Jim Furyk did in 2007.

In 2013, Hunter Mahan (who held the 36-hole lead) famously withdrew from the RBC Canadian Open to attend the birth of his first child and will be one of the few featured names in the field this week.  Hunter has three top-10 finishes this season but otherwise hasn’t made much noise for fantasy owners.

It’s going to be a challenge putting together a roster with a field like this one but we’ll help you navigate through the changing field of players.

Last Week’s Fantasy Results

It was a long five days in Scotland but in the end our fantasy picks for the 2015 British Open fared very well.

We were sad to see our horse pick Spieth fall short with a T4 finish (missing his chance at the season slam) but we’re pleased (at least from a fantasy perspective) to see that his closest rival in salary cap leagues, Dustin Johnson, finished in a disappointing T49th place.

With the win, our sleeper pick Zach Johnson helped us notch our third major winner picked this season (now 3-for-3) and our fourth winner picked in the last five tournaments!

All seven of our picks for last week’s British Open made the cut bringing out total season earnings to $35,882,142 ($1,087,4437 average per week) and bumping our cuts made rate back over 80% on the season.

The Field

Jim Furyk will headline this week’s RBC Canadian Open and the 2-time event champion and will be joined by Bubba Watson and Jason Day as the premier ranked players in the field. Additionally, Nick Taylor and David Hearn will head the field of Canadians (13 players) as the hometown natives.

We’re back to lower quality fields this week which makes it tougher select a sound fantasy lineup and we’ll be looking for a few diamonds in the rough to come through as the sport recovers from the adrenaline rush at St. Andrews.  Look to our picks segment below to help you round out your DraftKings, Pick ’em and other fantasy golf lineups this week.

The Course

Glen Abbey GC measures in at 7,273 and plays as a par 72.  This 1977 Jack Nicklaus design notoriously has played fairly easy and players have been known to go low here.  Serving as the home of the Royal Canadian Golf Association, Glen Abbey will host their 27th Open.

The back nine here has what they call the “Valley Holes,” which begin with a tee shot at No. 11 about 65 feet above the fairway before winding around Sixteen Mile Creek for three holes.

The 18th hole is where Tiger Woods knocked one of the best bunker shots of his career when he placed a 6-iron 12 feet from the pin after carrying 200+ yards of water and other hazards.

No Title

En route to victory in the final round of the 2000 Bell Canadian Open, Tiger Woods hit what many consider his greatest shot ever on the PGA TOUR, at the par-5, 18th hole. . SUBSCRIBE to PGA TOUR now: http://pgat.us/vBxcZSh Welcome to the official YouTube channel of the PGA TOUR.

Weather Forecast for Oakville, Ontario, Canada

Other than some rain forecasted for Sunday’s round, the weather looks to be pleasant for most of this week’s tournament.  The players making their trip from the British Open will find the conditions in Ontario to be a sweet relief with 80 degree temperatures and low to medium winds.

Last Year’s RBC Canadian Open Results

In 2014 Tim Clark went on a tear last year as he birdied five of his last eight holes for a one-shot Victory at Royal Montreal.  The victory ended a four-year winless drought for Clark.

His 5-under 65 was all he needed to notch the victory on Sunday.  It was his birdie at the par-4 11th that began his run to victory as Jim Furyk worked to tie things up to force a playoff before falling just short on the 18th.

The loss for Furyk added to his record of going 0-for-7 with a 54-hole lead since last winning at the 2010 TOUR Championship.

Here’s what happened last year if you missed it:
