Could This Be The Final Nike Tiger Woods Footwear Release Ever?
In 1996, a footwear and sports apparel brand called Nike signed 21-year-old Eldrick Tont “Tiger” Woods to a five-year, $40 million deal.
In 2023, rumors suggest the partnership, which has accumulated billions of dollars in sales and has become a name and a brand synonymous with one another, is coming to an end.
That scenario begs the question: Could this shoe be the final Nike Tiger Woods Footwear release ever?

Nike re-released the 2013 TW golf shoes earlier this year, but recently, the company took it a step further. A re-re-release of the shoe features the colorway and theming of The Masters, the tournament that Woods has won five times, most recently in 2019.
But the sentiment surrounding this shoe is much less about an old favorite that Nike released a decade ago. Rather, the design, colors, and ode to a classic is more about encapsulating the terrific career of perhaps golf’s greatest talent. Sadly, it might all be coming to an end.
"I'm still wearing their product," Woods answered to questions regarding his future with Nike at last weekend's PNC Championship. It was a cryptic response to an inquiry that was almost as controversial as asking a golfer if they're leaving the PGA Tour to go to LIV Golf. The implications may not be as grand in today's game, but after 27 years of Tiger and Nike, it feels about as Earth-shattering as anything that golf has gone through in the past three years.
A celebration and maybe even a farewell is felt in Nike's description of the shoe:
"On the 10th anniversary of possibly the most popular Tiger Woods shoe ever, we’re rereleasing the iconic design as our 1st true Tiger retro, an ahead-of-its-time game-changer. It offers the unique fit and feel of Nike Free technology for all-round comfort and roaring post-putt fist pumps. The outsole helps keep you steady, so you can channel your Tiger-esque club twirls after ripping a massive tee shot down the middle of the fairway."
The look, which you can have a close look over of the shoe with the large-scaled images below, is clean, athletic, and a perfect shoutout to the first Major of the year:
But there are still a lot of questions surrounding this shoe, and whether it will be Tiger's last with Nike. Presently, there are a lot of players that could be affected by the speculation regarding Nike and Golf. Rory McIlroy, Scottie Scheffler, Tommy Fleetwood, and Brooks Koepka are just some of the names that wear the Nike Check on a weekly basis.
There is the potential that the brand, which ended the production of golf balls and golf clubs in the mid-2010s, is also on its way out of the apparel game, too.
While nothing has been confirmed as of yet, it would be a major blow to golfers. Nike, for the most part, manufactures good products. Their apparel offerings give those a choice between economical and clean, and expensive and flashy. Nonetheless, it is a brand for all, and over the years, it has become a mainstay in the golf realm.
Despite the FootJoys, the Travis Mathews, the Greysons, and the J. Lindebergs of the world also existing in the same space, Nike has competed with them, even though the company's main focus is spread across basically all major sports. With Nike potentially out of golf, the entire apparel landscape could change.
But what is perhaps the biggest lesson in all of this is, "All good things come to an end."
I don't think anyone could have predicted at any point that Nike and Tiger would part ways. While we are not there officially, there are all the feels and indications that we are on our way to a world where the Nike Check leaves Tiger's classic red polos.
Golf is changing, big time.
