Rory McIlroy Clarifies LIV Rumors — Is He Going or Not?
Rory McIlroy has clarified any rumors of his potential departure from the PGA Tour to LIV Golf — and to be frank, it is not happening.
“I will play the PGA Tour for the rest of my career.”
McIlroy said he has no plans to ever leave the Tour and never received an offer from LIV Golf. After The Masters, rumors swirled that McIlroy was considering a move to LIV Golf, a shocking speculation considering the Northern Irishman’s past comments about the rival golf tour.
Reports, starting with the initial one from City AM, a London-based financial newspaper, stated McIlroy was in contact with LIV Golf and was offered $850 million — a sum that has eclipsed any other offer to a PGA Tour golfer.
More speculation continued through the early portion of the week as McIlroy was reportedly entertaining the move. However, his agent, Sean O’Flaherty, commented in an emailed statement to the Irish Independent, denying it altogether.
Now, McIlroy has confirmed he will not leave the PGA Tour:
