Bryson DeChambeau is one of the longest hitters in pro golf, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise that he’s against the upcoming rollback of the golf balls that the pros will soon be using

The USGA has said that the biggest hitters in the sport at the pro level will see a maximum of 15 yards less in driving distance.

While the new golf balls haven’t yet been created for the rollback set for 2030, DeChambeau conducted an experiment with a 2009 Nike Tour One ball.

He said that would be a rough equivalent of how the new balls will perform.

DeChambeau said that pretty much all of his shots on the front nine at Dallas National Golf Club were affected. The old golf ball with lower compression led to less spin and slower speeds.

“Were they saying it’s like a 10/11 yard difference? Nah, It’s like 15/20. If I hit that good it was probably 25. I don’t like it.”

The loss on the driver was around 15-25 yards, and about 5% on iron shots.

One screenshot listed his carry at 315 yards on a shot at 187 mph. He said a typical shot with a ProV1 Left Dash was 331 yards and 192 mph.

Golf.com analyzed some of the shots and found that many from the rough would naturally spin less due to additional grass at impact.

For the record, DeChambeau ended up shooting 1-under in those nine holes.
