4 Solid Players Inside the Top 50 of the World That Are “Winless” on PGA Tour
The 2021-2022 season on the PGA Tour was a wild one in several different aspects. Each of these gentlemen had a shot at the winner’s circle but were unable to complete the job. Nonetheless, these players played quite well to maintain their world rankings inside the top 50.
The first player on the list is Cameron Young. He had an extremely impressive rookie season, finishing tied for 2nd place at the Open Championship and tied for third in the PGA Championship. Not only that, Young finished 2nd a staggering five times during the season, bringing him nearly 7 million home in his first year. With all these runs in contention, Cameron is definitely somebody to be on the lookout for to raise some hardware in 2023.

Next, we have Tommy Fleetwood, the 31-year-old seasoned veteran has put himself close many times over the years but has been unable to seal the deal. Still on the younger side, he has many chances to get his first victory out on tour, or even a major. Fleetwood finished the season with 5 top tens, a top-four finish in the Open Champion, and a top 5 finish in the PGA Championship.

A player you might not be quite familiar with is ranked 42nd in the world is Kurt Kitayama. He had a huge turnaround from the 2020-2021 season, not making a single cut. This past season (2021-2022), Kurt finished 2nd twice and third place as well. One of Kitayama’s key performances was the Genesis Scottish Open, where he almost came from behind on Sunday just to finish one shot short to Xander Schauffele.

Our last player has put his emotions on display, always being genuine and open in interviews is rookie Sahith Theegala. He had a couple heartbreaking moments down the stretch in the tournaments but has handled the adversity well on and off the golf course. Rounding out the season with 5 top 10’s, and making it to East Lake (venue of FedEx Cup) with rookie Cameron Young is a successful season without question.

Theegala is already hitting strides in the 2022-2023 season with three top 10’s and an unofficial doubles win at the QBE Shoutout. Even though it was a team event, capturing the hardware must feel good.
