Imagine traveling to all 50 U.S. States to play 50 of the best golf courses the country has to offer and doing it all in 50 weeks. BustaJack’s Golfin’ Old Glory is exactly that, and it is every golfer’s dream.

Cole Lantz and Mason Nutt make up BustaJack Golf. After speaking to a friend of theirs who is more or less a creative consultant, they came up with the ultimate idea for a golf trip, and it involved hitting some of the coolest golf courses in the United States in the span of 50 weeks, playing a new one every Sunday.

Many people, the vast majority of us, in fact, do not have the privilege of traveling throughout the United States to play a variety of courses on a weekly basis. So that brings into question what most would wonder: How do you plan this kind of trip, and how does everything fall into place? The answer might not be as complicated as you think.

Lantz said on Golficity’s The Golf Podcast:

“Sometimes we have a pretty good plan. But a lot of the time, it’s ‘Hey, it’s good weather in Kentucky right now.’ But like some states, like Alaska, we have planned for June. The big ones, you have to plan like that. A lot of the time, the weather is the biggest thing, so it kind of has to be last-minute planning in a lot of places.”

Combining the planning of choosing which course the BustaJack guys would play on which day, with the development of content and the travel plans, makes for quite the grind. But there’s a strategy to it all, including which portion of each golf course will make the cut for videos.

It comes down to preparation, along with some local knowledge. Nutt said it is as simple as they’d love to film all 18 holes on every course they play, but it’s just not possible. Instead, they will ask the Pro Shop at each course which 9-hole portion is the better of the two, and that usually is the one that makes the cut.

Additionally, it is more than just coming to golf courses, playing 9 holes, filming, editing, and publishing. Much of the experience is about the company you keep, and BustaJack has had some incredible guests, including Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen, who joined the two in Los Angeles, along with fellow QB Kyle Allen, as the California leg of the trip was knocked out after a trip to TPC Scottsdale.

Josh Allen was a replacement for Sam Darnold, the former New York Jets, and Carolina Panthers QB, who could not make it. “I’ll ask Josh instead,” Kyle said, and the Top 5 QB was a huge treat for the BustaJack crew.

“Josh said yes, and it was the hardest thing in the world to find a golf club that had availability because LA had received a month straight of rain, and that was the second day in a month that it had been sunny. Everything was packed, so luckily, Strawberry Farm took care of us and allowed us to film and took care of us…That was a pretty crazy day.”

Luckily, Golficity has gotten a chance to be a part of the project, as Frank and Mike joined BustaJack at Whistling Straits, and you can watch that video above.
