Talor Gooch Laments a Big Chunk of His Huge LIV Golf Winning Check Staying in Australia
While it’s tough to beat the April that Jon Rahm had after winning the Masters, it’s LIV Golf’s Talor Gooch who had the most financially successful month in the sport.
Gooch won LIV events in back-to-back weeks, pocketing $4 million for his wins in Australia and Singapore. His Range Goats team finished runner-up in Adelaide and won in Singapore, adding just over another $1 million to his total earnings.

We all know that earnings are taxed, but Uncle Sam in the U.S. is nothing compared to the tax bill Gooch will have in Australia.
While appearing on the “Fore the People” podcast, Gooch said that nearly half of his winnings never made it into his bank account:
“It was a little bit disheartening seeing 47.5% because Australian taxes [do] not enter the account. It was a big [direct deposit] this last week, but yeah, it sucked that 47.5% was withheld for Australian taxes, unfortunately.”
“I am by no means complaining, but the four [million dollars], once you cut it all up, let’s just say that it’s lot less than four.”
Gooch became the first LIV Golf winner to go back-to-back following his playoff victory over Sergio Garcia in Singapore.

He’ll have a chance for a three-peat next weekend in Tulsa, Oklahoma, which will be a homecoming of sorts for the Oklahoma State University alumnus.
