Avoid Bunkers at All Costs At PGA Championship
Maybe you have been at the golf course without any sand in it or it might have some rocks in it. As golfers we know how difficult this can be because we can play it like a normal bunker shot. However, our professionals at the PGA Championship starting today in the first round have a whole other challenge to face. As Ian Poulter details the situation on the bunkers which he shared on his Instagram story. It is a great insight for golf fans to understand the degree of difficulty on the bunkers.
The fine gravel-type sand will make it difficult for players to stop the ball because of the tiny stones in the bunker that will get between the club face and ball. This will reduce spin, not allowing golfers to stop the ball out of the bunker as easily as they usually would.

It will be a coin flip whether players get clean contact and optimal spin on bunkers shots. We are likely to see the bunker struggles through the week especially if a player leaves themself little green to work with. It could very well be a recipe for disaster.
As you can see on Poulter’s clubface, he probably only hit a few shots and it did visible damage to it.
It is likely that the pro’s will have new wedges by the end of the tournament or even during the tournament if they found the bunker one too many times.
