In the midst of the PGA this week and rolling off Jason Day’s win at the AT&T, we got wind of a crazy turn of events between Day and Tiger Woods that transformed both of their games back in 2015.

After Day carded a Sunday 62 to return to the World’s Top 20 and break a five-year win drought – it was revealed that Tiger reached out to him to fix his chipping yips that had hit him on his decline down the world rankings back in 2015.

“When Tiger was going through the chipping yips, Tiger invited me out to kind of go over chipping technique and everything like that,”

“And I remember coming out of that meeting with Tiger and Chris Como and thinking, ‘there’s something about Chris.’

“He’s very quiet, listens very intently, but you could tell that he knew a lot about the game and knew it at a deeper level.”

When Day was on top of the world, winning the PGA and four other titles in 2015, Tiger was in a slump. Tiger was working with Chris Como at the time, and Day joined the team briefly to offer a helping hand on nudging Tiger back to a competitive short game.

Fast forward a few years, Tiger had come close in the 2018 Open, the 2018 PGA, won the 2018 Tour Championship, 2019 Masters, and Jason Day is working with Chris Como to reshape his swing, alleviating the pressure on his back as he re-enters the winners circle on the PGA Tour. A chance event that led to good outcomes for all involved and a cool takeaway in the rollercoaster journey Tiger’s career has taken.
