Scheffler Reacts to Tiger’s Viral Divot Video

Hopefully, you all saw the interaction between Scottie Scheffler and Tiger Woods on the driving range last week. It started with an honest question from Scottie to the GOAT, seeking some wisdom, before Tiger stopped him dead in his tracks.

‘What’s with the no divots?’

Tiger proceeded to bewilder Scottie, smirking as he said he was ‘just picking it’ – explaining that when he is flushing the ball, he doesn’t take divots. He had to say it twice, for Scheffler was looking pretty confused.

Dan Rappaport asked Scottie this week at Oak Hill if Tiger had made him re-think his divot-taking strategy. He still didn’t really know what was going on.

Scheffler said he remembered the day, looking over and being confused by the fact Tiger had taken no divots at all. He figured Tiger was doing some sort of drill, perhaps not wanting to give away any trade secrets because the cameras were on. Scheffler definitely didn’t know what to think, however, rounding off with:

“Who knows? Maybe he really doesn’t take divots. Ask JT”

Justin Thomas is close friends with Tiger and could maybe shed another perspective on the driving range mystery. Or perhaps Tiger just keeps some things to himself.

Open Championship winner Darren Clarke explained it was the single most impressive thing he’d ever seen when he saw Tiger had been flushing it for 45 minutes straight on a range in Germany, only to see there were no divots, only a smooth stripe of brushed grass.

Ball-striking on another level, so much so that it confuses major champions?

Another reason we love Tiger.
