BUSTED: PGA Tour Canada Golfer Admits to Cheating During Event
PGA Tour Canada golfer Justin Doeden admitted to cheating on his scorecard while competing at the Ottawa Open this past weekend, putting down the wrong score on purpose and submitting his scorecard.
Doeden said in a Tweet today:
“I am here to confess of the biggest mistake I have made in my life to date. I cheated in golf. This is not who I am. I let my sponsors down. I let my competitors down. I let my family down. I let myself down. I pray for your forgiveness. John 1:9.”

On the 18th hole, a Par 5 at Eagle Creek Golf Club during the Friday round, Doeden hit one in the water and dropped. The penalty cost him two strokes and he ended with a double bogey 7 on the hole, but that’s not what he wrote on his scorecard.
Instead, he wrote that he had scored Par, then confirmed his scores and signed his card.
Monday Q’s Ryan French said Doeden “asked for his card, saying he wanted to double-check some things.”
Sorry, was on the course when I was notified of this. I will say this, I talked to a lot of players about each of these cases. Most of the time players aren’t surprised, but in Justin’s case a lot of players were really shocked.

The incorrect score would have qualified Doeden for the cut, where he would have played over the weekend. Instead, the correct seven he scored on the hole cost him a shot at the weekend. The incident is currently under review, according to Golf.com, and is being assessed to determine a proper punishment.
